Glorious rainy day wedding at Nant Y Walch Barn!

I have a hot take for you - we live in Britain. Even if you choose to get married in the summer. It could…rain.

BUT DON’T SHY AWAY FROM IT!! If it rains on your wedding day, the only thing that can ruin your plans is a bum attitude. A perfect example of this would be the wonderful Ash & Alun who had one of the rainiest Welsh wedding days i’ve ever experienced - but did they let it damped their joy?! Absolutely NOT mate! They picked up a brolly and went dancing in the rain!

The couple found me through a Facebook post asking for colourful and candid weddings photographer recommendations and within the hour of the post, Ash messaged me to say I was just what they were looking for! (YAY!)

Heading deeper into Wales, Ashleigh & Alun had their wedding day at their local church and reception at Nant Y Walch Barn. Myself and my second shooter for the day (and great pal) Claire Roige met them for morning prep at a local hotel where they were joined by their family and friends. The vibe was light-hearted, chilled and full of laughter as they got ready, with plenty of time for lots of candids before heading to the church.

The ceremony was classical and emotional (especially from our groom, bless him!) And the most important thing - exactly what the couple wanted!

I know a lot of 'alternative' photographers are not a fan of church ceremonies for various reasons. But in my eyes, whether it's typically traditional or alternative - as long as it's suited and meaningful for you as a couple, I'm all in!!

Post ceremony the rain really started to come down so a small postponement on confetti was put into place and off we went in a convoy through the forest roads to Nant Y Walch! But not before a cheeky stop for some couples photos (these guys were such good sports about the weather!)

Luckily for us, Nant Y Walch was cosy, comfortable and well stocked with treats so we had all we needed for a celebration! We made use of undercover corners for photos and everyone had a giggle as the afternoon rolled into the evening and the band began to set up.

But what about that confetti shot we postponed? You're right! And you guessed it, it was still raining cats and dogs so armed with a back up plan, the couple launched their first dance with a colourful entrance that will definitely go down in my history books!! (Don't take my word for it, check out the photos!)

We all danced into the evening with confetti stuck to our shoes and I'll tell you what - it was bloody blissful!
