West is best! Colourful autumn wedding at Gellifawr Woodland retreat!

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that’s all about fun, candid, relaxed vibes then you’ll definitely want to check out Claire and Doug’s big day at Gellifawr Woodland Retreat in West Wales (and be sure to take notes!)

Picture this: MOUNTAINS of confetti, plenty of carefree time for candid & guests to relax, a couple of party games thrown in and a seriously epic dance floor!

As soon as I met the pair and their kiddos, I knew their wedding day would be all about having a great time. That great phrase comes to mind “a marriage & a party” nothing too “wedding-y”. As I arrived way out west at Gellifawr, the guys and their nearest and dearest were just adding the final touches ahead of the ceremony. After some high-energy first looks it was game time and everyone took their places for the ceremony.

Claire and Doug were all about keeping things low-key and fun, and this place had just the right mix of rustic charm and laid-back vibes as well as being the perfect backdrop to those bold and beautiful florals by the lovely Alex at Wilde Posies.

Post ceremony - are you interested in confetti? Oh well good because there was TONNES of the stuff!! It was everywhere! The guys were practically drowned in bright, colourful confetti which just set the tone for the whole day: joyful, fun, and full of life. The tidal wave was followed by cuddles, bubbles and as I mentioned, just plenty of time for everyone to relax. We threw in a few quick group shots (plus a few more unsolicited ones from family members as always) before a little stroll…or dance around the lake. Honestly, these guys just had such an energy you couldn’t match - my cheeks hurt from all the laughter.

As the day rolled on it was time to eat, as was the tone of the day everything was easy breezy with no longwinded speeches and cosy hearty food. Before we lost the final sunshine we head up the hills to get some views of over that glorious landscape and say hi to the locals (cows are pretty nosey!). On our return it was game time, the football was out and a tipsy game of MR & MRS seemed like a great idea to get everyone inside and out of the chill of that autumn evening.

This blog would certainly not be complete if I didn’t talk to you about THE DANCEFLOOR! It was sooooo goooood!! So many throwback anthems that had everyone—grandparents included—on their feet with their hands in the air like they just didn’t care!

Claire & Doug were the absolute life of the party, dancing like nobody was watching with their nearest and dearest! It’s moments like this that really are the best!
