Fun winter wedding at Cardiff Castle! The kick off to 2026 with karaoke!

After a couple of very busy years, both I and the universe decided that 2026 should be a year of reflection and taking things a little slower. Sure, it hasn't been as quiet as I originally expected going into the year but it has been creatively blissful and filled with weddings and projects that have filled up my cup! So let's talk about 2026 and how it kicked off with the wonderful Katy & Dave!

I met these guys in a field at cwtchfest '24 (you can often find me in fields...) and they told me all about their Cardiff city wedding at the city hall and bowling alley, inspired by their first date! A hop, skip and a jump to a few months later aaaand Cardiff city hall closed it's doors for some essential renovations. "No problem!" The guys thought, forever optimistic that their legals can be adapted quite easily to a new location. A few months more and their beloved bowling alley also closed it's doors for good! And this one, not quite so easy to save.

The End.

NOOOO OF COURSE NOT!

I'm not here to share a sad story! I'm here to share a story of positivity, resilience and proof that even when your original wedding plans go out the window, it can still be the wedding of your dreams!

With all these set backs K&D thought to themselves about what was most important and to save themselves the stress. Keep it easy, keep it central and just have a big cosy party to blow away any January blues!

And you can't get more central than Cardiff Castle! Getting ready in some fancy suites just round the corner, the pair and their wedding party took to the streets and walked to their ceremony in the croft at the Castle. Where we were treated to music from the couples closest friends, both on piano and then an amazing rendition of 'kiss the girl' from the little mermaid by a choir of their nearest and dearest. Despite it being January in Wales the rain held off and their guests made a tunnel or colourful bubbles complete with cheerleader pompoms! Believe me, they did an excellent job of bringing the cheer!

One of the things I like most about a winter wedding is if you get treated to a clear day, you know that golden hour is going to be top tier. Another of my favourite things is you can also guarantee a top tier dancefloor - but this one had a difference.

BANDEOKE!!

Good golly miss molly did these guys love a sing a long! I mean, I do too so the company and vibes were excellent! We sang all the classics including the Pokémon theme tune whilst Mario kart was in full swing on the Nintendo and the photobooth was popping off! So I ask you, what more could you ask for than a wedding filled with your favourite people and your favourite ways to pass the time?!
