Beau & Tilly’s love shack wedding full of PRIDE!
Hello friends!
How are we all doing, are we well - I truly hope so!
So, June is pride month and although I absolutely advocate the celebration of diversity and being your authentic self all year round, I am going to take this opportunity to shout all about the wonderful LGBTQ+ weddings I get to be a part of and the LGBTQ+ suppliers I have the great pleasure to work alongside.
I’m just going to take a moment to get serious if you’ll allow. Although pride month is a cause for celebration, it’s important to understand its roots and while it’s still such an important cause that people are still fighting today. A fight, just so people can live as themselves without fear and without hate or discrimination.
Did you know that the first LEGAL ‘same-sex’ marriage in the UK was only in 2014! If you’re reading this then that’s probably within your teenage years (a time where most folks are already discovering their sexuality). And it’s still not as simple today with terms such ‘same-sex’, “bride’, ‘groomsmen’ etc excluding and marginalising folks in an industry that should be filled with nothing but joy and love.
I am certainly no expert and I definitely can slip up on my pronouns from time to time but even now, more so than ever it’s important that as wedding professionals we try our hardest make all our couples feel seen & celebrated! I am an ally, a supporter and defender of everyones rights to celebrate their love and their identities and today I want to share the wonderful celebration of Beau (they/them) & Tilly (she/her) and their wedding at The Shack Revolution, surrounded by the support families & chosen families.
From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming like a big cosy hug after a long drive. Guests were welcomed with cups of tea, coffee, and a surplus of heart shaped Welsh cakes that made everyone feel right at home. The venue itself was filled with handmade touches of artwork and dried flowers that added even more to that cosy vibe.
The ceremony itself was nothing short of magical. Tanisha, Lovestruck celebrant, really brought Beau & Tilly’s love story to life in the most personal and intimate way. You could see how every word resonated with the guests, stirring up emotion and joy all around. Honestly, she’s so good at what she does!
After a heartfelt hand fasting the real fun kicked off! The couple led their friends and family outside for an explosion of colour and joy, showered with confetti that looked stunning against the backdrop of the Shack’s industrial decor!
Keeping it relaxed and true to them, the afternoon’s festivities revealed Drag Kind bingo! (A first for me!) It added a unique twist to the celebration, with laughter erupting from every corner of the venue as guests played along for only the top cat - inspired prizes! The evening closed out with pizza and a surprise video appearance from another of the couple’s favourite Drag Kings and I tootled home with my heart filled with love and my belly filled with vegan pizza!
Beau & Tilly, it really was a privilege to photograph your wedding and witness the vibrancy of your love and the love of those around you. Thank you 💛
